The NICA AWARDS are here - plus, important updates regarding MESSAGE TYPES to make sure your emails are being delivered to the right people at the right time.

January is busy regardless of your season: spring leagues are diving into regular practices and prepping for races and events, while our fall leagues gear up for the upcoming year.

This month our main push for NICA marketing and league support is our annual NICA AWARDS. Please take time to review the league guide we've created, which provides plug-and-play marketing tools for your league to spread the word. We want to show off all of the amazing people who make NICA magic happen, so don't miss out on these co-marketing opportunities. Courtney will serve as the main support liaison for NICA Awards.

‼️ IMPORTANT! ITERABLE MESSAGE TYPES

We want to ensure that all league directors (and those who are sending emails via Iterable) are aware of EMAIL BEST-PRACTICES that impact deliverability. If someone other than you sends emails on your league’s behalf, please make them aware of this info as well.

Within Iterable, there is an option to choose a MESSAGE TYPE for every campaign you send (see screenshot below). It is important to choose the MARKETING MESSAGE type. Choosing the wrong message type will impact your deliverability.

Nearly every message we send to our audiences is considered a "Marketing" message. This means it has links or "calls to action" for your audience (i.e. a link to buy merch, learn about a partner or program, register for an optional event, etc.)

There are rare exceptions, to this, in which case you would want to use a TRANSACTIONAL MESSAGE. If you are trying to convey essential information to your audience, change your message type to a transactional message.

Transactional messages are those that are limited to critical information for your audience, and do not contain promotions or “asks” (link clicks, etc.) that are non-essential to your league operations.
    • Common instances of transactional messages include emails that are informational-only: your  upcoming season schedule, a cancelled event due to weather, etc.
    • Transactional messages do not require an unsubscribe link as they are limited to essential, critical information for the intended audience. You CAN send transactional messages in Iterable without an unsubscribe link in the footer, and we recommend that you do so in instances where information must be delivered to coaches, families, or riders.

Any information that impacts someone’s ability to fully participate in your league should be sent as a transactional message.

Moving forward, please be aware of the message type as you continue to send emails! Let us know if you have any questions…we’re here to help!
